Meet Brian Broyles

Brian Broyles is the Senior Vice Chancellor for Advancement at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he plays an essential role in furthering the university’s mission and strategic vision. His extensive leadership and fundraising experience highlight his more than 12 years of dedicated service to UT Knoxville.

In his current role, Brian works closely with campus leadership and the University of Tennessee Foundation, directing the Advancement Division. His responsibilities include identifying priorities for private support, creating fundraising strategies, and carrying out effective alumni and development programs.

Under Brian’s leadership, the division has achieved remarkable success, with philanthropy increasing by 62% and consecutive years of more than 25% year-over-year growth, while also breaking previous university fundraising records.

Before stepping into his current position, Brian served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement at UT Knoxville. In this role, he provided leadership and management for the Haslam College of Business, the Tickle College of Engineering, and the College of Arts and Sciences. He also worked as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Regional Advancement, leading a nationwide team of major gift officers. Brian’s guidance supported fundraising for all the University’s colleges, the Department of Athletics, the UT Libraries, and central campus initiatives.

Brian began his fundraising career in annual giving at UT Knoxville and later worked as a Major Gifts Officer for the Broad College of Business at Michigan State University before returning to Knoxville. Over his career of more than 25 years, he has held various roles in sales, marketing, management, and academic fundraising.
