Verma (Class of 2028) is studying computer science and economics with a concentration in econometrics and data analysis and a minor in data science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has not only found her community within UT but is also committed to leaving that community better than she found it.

Dale Hudson (’64, ’66) grew up wanting to see more of the world, and he knew his ticket was the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He hails from Sequatchie County, Tennessee, which has much to offer in scenic countryside views and community warmth but remains one of the least populated counties in the state. With only one public high school, his home county felt small to young Hudson.

When Baby Seven—born two months early—arrived at the Charles and Julie Wharton Animal Hospital’s Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM), it was all hands on deck.

7,700 Volunteers came together Nov. 5 for Big Orange Give, supporting their favorite parts of Rocky Top and showing their belief in the power of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to change lives. The annual day of giving completed its 13th year with more than $2.6 million received for current and future students, surpassing its $2.5 million goal.

Bob Barni (’77, ’80) remembers walking through a family garden with his grandfather, picking a tomato, and eating it like an apple on the front porch. It’s a formative memory for Barni that inspired a lifetime devoted to helping others create such opportunities for connection and realization through education and environmental biology.  

A longtime partner of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Regal has awarded scholarships to students since 2010. Now, the entertainment group is increasing its contribution by providing this cohort’s students with a $10,000 scholarship.

UT’s Vols of Honor Scholarship has doubled its number of awards in just two years, impacting 23 students this fall. The scholarship program began in 2022 and benefits students with a parent or spouse who was disabled or killed in the line of duty as a military service member or first responder.

The Volunteer community raised over $2.5 million during the 12th annual Big Orange Give.

Vols poured out support for UT on Big Orange Give, our annual day of giving that directly supports students and initiatives. The 12th annual event raised more than $2.5 million — far exceeding the $1.5 million goal.
