Ten Middle Tennessee Flagship Scholarship endowments have been established at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, thanks to the generosity of Pinnacle Financial Partners.

The Flagship Scholarship covers tuition and required fees up to $52,000 over four years, when combined with the HOPE scholarship, for first-year students who graduate from designated Flagship high schools in Tennessee. As part of the Tri-Star Scholarship Program, the Flagship Scholarship advances UT’s commitment to provide the state’s students an affordable education.

“The partnerships we have built with Flagship high schools and the communities that support them are incredibly important to us and our mission as a land-grant university,” said UT Chancellor Donde Plowman. “By creating endowments to fund this scholarship program we can ensure that these Tennessee students will have the opportunity to attend the state’s flagship public university well into the future. I am grateful to donors like Pinnacle that also recognize the value of scholarship programs like this and our mission to increase access to higher education for all Tennesseans.”

Pinnacle’s gift to fund these scholarship endowments for Tennessee students reflects the mission it shares with the university.

“Pinnacle seeks to make a significant positive impact on the communities we serve,” said Rob McCabe, chairman of Pinnacle Financial Partners. “These endowments are an investment in the future of Middle Tennessee and open a pipeline for students who otherwise may not have been able to attend a school of this caliber, if at all. We’re appreciative of UT’s partnership and impact on our state.”

A current Flagship Scholarship recipient, Azaria Boyd (Class of ’24), agrees that this kind of last-dollar support is indeed a difference-maker.

“My scholarship made a huge impact on my first year in college,” said Boyd. “I hope to become a child psychologist and will be exploring specializations during my time at UT. I am excited for everything this university has to offer, and I want to take what I learn here and apply it to the outside world.

“Donor generosity and support have helped me advance in my academic pursuits, and it is greatly appreciated.”

The 10 schools with students who will benefit from these newly funded Flagship Scholarship endowments include:
