Year-end Giving
Thank you for considering a gift to the University of Tennessee. Your contribution creates opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, and advances our academic and public service programs.
As 2024 comes to a close, there are many options to ensure your gift is processed before the end of the calendar year.
NOTE: All times are Eastern Standard Time. Wednesday, January 1, 2025 is a university observed holiday.
The university will be closed December 23, 2024–January 1, 2025. If you wish to make a gift December 23–31, please do so online.
Although the university will be closed, you may drop off gifts at the UT Foundation at 1525 University Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921, on the following days:
- Monday, December 23, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. EST
- Friday, December 27, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. EST
- Monday, December 30, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. EST
The UT Foundation will accept credit cards via phone on Monday, December 30, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. EST at (865) 974-0381.
Gifts made by credit card must be received no later than 11:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, December 31 to qualify as 2024 gifts.
Stock, checks, or other gifts sent by U.S. Mail must bear a 2024 postmark.
Gifts sent by U.S. Mail must bear a 2023 postmark.

Wire transfers of stock or other securities and cash must be received in UT Foundation account before the close of business on Tuesday December 31st. Electronic transfers can take 24 hours or as much as 48-72 hours. Electronic transfer instructions are available at utfi.org/giving/cash-gifts.
In order for gifts of securities to qualify as 2024 gifts, the securities must be received in the Foundation’s brokerage account by December 31, 2024. Gifts of mutual funds and physical stock certificates should be initiated by December 13, 2024, for calendar year 2024 credit. Electronic transfers of securities should be initiated on Friday, December 20, to qualify as 2024 gifts. For gifts of securities please utilize the Foundation’s brokerage account at BNY Mellon / Pershing: utfi.org/giving/stocks-securities.

Planned Giving Opportunities
If you haven’t yet taken full advantage of the IRA Charitable Rollover, there is still time left in the calendar year to do so. IRA account holders aged 70½+ can donate up to $105,000 tax-free, and those 73+ can count rollovers toward required minimum distributions. Learn more at giftplanning.utk.edu/give-from-your-ira.
