Year-end Giving
Thank you for considering a gift to the University of Tennessee. Your contribution creates opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, and advances our academic and public service programs.
As 2025 comes to a close, there are many options to ensure your gift is processed before the end of the calendar year.
NOTE: The university will be closed Monday, December 22, 2025 through Friday, December 26, 2025. The university will also be closed Thursday, January 1, 2026 and Friday, January 2, 2026. All times are Eastern Standard Time.
Online Gifts and Credit Cards
Gifts can be made conveniently online via credit card, Venmo, or PayPal. Please ensure online gifts are made before 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31 to qualify for 2025.
If you would like to make a credit card gift over the phone, please call 865-974-0381 during the following days:
- Tuesday, December 23 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
- Monday, December 29 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, December 30 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, December 31 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Hand Delivery
Although the university will be closed December 22-26, you may drop off gifts at the UT Foundation at 1525 University Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921, on the following days:
- Tuesday, December 23, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. EST
- Friday, December 26, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. EST
- Tuesday, December 30, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. EST
U.S. Mail
Stocks, checks, or other gifts sent by U.S. Mail must bear a 2025 postmark.

Wire Transfers
Wire transfers of cash must be received before the close of business on Wednesday, December 31. Electronic transfers can take 24 hours or as much as 72 hours. Electronic transfer instructions are available at utfi.org/giving/cash-gifts.
Gifts of Stock
In order for gifts of securities to qualify as 2025 gifts, the securities must be received in the UT Foundation’s brokerage account by December 31, 2025. Gifts of mutual funds and physical stock certificates should be initiated by December 12, 2025, for calendar year 2025 credit. Electronic transfers of stock should be initiated no later than Friday, December 19, to qualify as 2025 gifts. Stock transactions through Fidelity may require up to ten days, so those transactions are encouraged by Tuesday, December 16.

IRA Charitable Rollovers
IRA account holders ages 70½+ can donate up to $108,000 tax-free in 2025, and those 73+ can count charitable rollovers toward required minimum distributions. Learn more at giftplanning.utk.edu/give-from-your-ira.
Donors are encouraged to initiate an IRA charitable rollover by December 12, 2025. Some IRA custodians will mail a check or wire funds directly to the UT Foundation (see Wire Transfers), but other IRA custodians may mail a check to the donor to then send to the UT Foundation. Delivery may be made by physical transfer to an agent for the charity (refer to in-person drop off dates listed above) or by placing the check in the U.S. Mail to receive a postmark no later than December 31. If you have check writing privileges on the IRA account, the funds must clear in the year of the check’s issuance, so in-person delivery to the UT Foundation by December 26 is highly encouraged.
