Make a GiftZach Campbell, a 2017 graduate of The University of Tennessee College of Law (“UT”), inspired all those with whom he came in contact to better the world around them. With a degree in business administration from Pepperdine University, a Master of Accounting from William & Mary, and his law degree from UT, Zach was well positioned to pursue his passions of advancing his clients’ interests in global commerce, as well as providing robust and life changing community service. In his role as a mergers and acquisitions senior associate at KPMG US, Zach expertly advised his multinational clients with respect to navigating the complexities of transnational tax implications. Through his community service work, Zach worked with colleagues to develop a handbook to provide guidance to indigent individuals navigating the Social Security Disability system, as well as serving as a volunteer translator at countless pro bono immigration clinics.
Zach loved to travel and was always on the lookout for the next great adventure. Having traversed a good portion of the world, one of his favorite aspects of traveling was meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. He actively looked for, and found, moments of shared connection that transcended all borders, and everyone with whom he came in contact felt deeply that he cared about them and their lived experiences.
His interest in others did not only extend to his travels. During law school he also developed meaningful friendships with his classmates. Regardless of substantive law interests, Zach helped create a community of law students that shared a deep appreciation for true connection and support. His engaging personality and keen sense of humor enriched the lives of all those at the law school, and the buoyancy brought by his presence is only rivaled by the weight brought by his absence. Challenges notwithstanding—including the untimely and tragic death of his mother, physical injuries, and other significant accidents suffered by family members—Zach led by example, and his commitment to excellence in his work and love for all those around him served as catalysts for his family, friends, and colleagues to follow his lead and contribute in meaningful ways to the communities around them. He was selfless, and illustrative of the very best aspects of the legal profession and humanity. His tragic death in 2022 cannot diminish the positive impact that Zach had on the lives of all those around him.
